Weekend in Leicestershire!
This is my first post so not quite sure how this is gonna go. I’m not a great writer or deep thinker but wanted to blog on my really great weekend last week (21-24 Jan 2011). This may just turn into a diary type entry but hopefully it’ll remind me of happy times so bear with me please…..
The weekend began on friday with the 1255 train from St Pancras to Leicester. All on time and I sat and watched ‘Social Network’ which was enjoyable and a good watch. Upon arrival in Leicester I met up with my rugby twitter friend, Brandy for a quick beer. Popped into Time and had a good chat and catch up before getting the train to Hinckley to meet Hannah!
Picked H up from work (she volunteers in scope at the mo) and we headed to costa for a coffee and cuppa! We exchanged xmas prezzies, she brought me beer, choccie and a picture frame. She doesn’t have to buy me anything but is a top lass and her pride wants too. Had a good chat and catch up and it was really nice to spend some quality time. Her mum, Elaine turned up too which was nice. We said our farewells and I headed up to katie and stuarts around half 6. The 3 of us had a quiet night in and chat. All very mature, responsible and grown up unlike saturday night…..
Anyway, saturday started peacefully enough. We got up and had smoked salmon for breakfast! Woo get us!! We got ready, picked up hannah and headed for Coombe Abbey! Katie and Stu are looking at wedding venues and this is top of the list at the mo so we went for a wander and look round! Its a lovely stately home type place with lots of grounds. We strolled around the lake and thru the trees for an hour or so. Even stopped by the lake for a little bird watching. All very calm and sedate. Everyone started getting a bit chilly so we headed inside for a little look round there and a coffee. I think katie has her heart set on having the wedding there, its really nice and stuart seemed keen too so I suspect that it’ll be there if dates and everything can be sorted.
Headed back to hinckley, dropped off h, had a chinese and got changed for evenings shenanigans….. We had arranged to meet everyone in Burbage so went to Kiera’s first to collect her and get a cab. She’s lovely and her lodger Jade decided to come out too which I wasn’t upset about! ;)
Arrived at sycamores and had a few drinkies with kiera, jade, lucy, lee and lisa. Random funny pics and laughs ensued and my ‘norman’ nickname took off with the girls! Spent a lot of the eve chatting to kiera and jade who are both so nice. Felt really drawn to jade but alas she has a boyfriend. She’s 23 and we chatted about her work and promotion, her boyfriend and generally laughed and flirted! Kiera was very chatty and keen too as the drinks kept flowing.
We headed back to hinckley and went into casey’s and this is where the night started getting messy! Shots!! Tequila, Sambuca and some aniseed thing amongst others! Girls started dancing with kiera and jade both fighting over my awesome dancing skills! Lol Honestly they were both pulling me away from the other in some strange battle over a short fat specky! Went onto Barracuda/Gravity for more of the same. By this point kiera was very drunk and telling me (a) time to move on and (b) she doesn’t need my sympathy and that katie had told me to be nice to her! All very random come the end!
Left there and ended up sitting out on a bench with jade who was very upset and crying about her boyfriend who doesn’t pay her much attention and she didn’t know where they were headed! I listened and advised where I could but she has to talk to him. In the meantime katie and stu headed for home and kiera fell over and then went to the dog and gun unbeknown to us!
So jade kept crying so I took her back to katies and we sat, had a beer and talked it out some more with katie and then at 4am I took her home. God knows how I found my way back but I did and eventually got to bed about half 4!! Had a really good, funny, strange and entertaining night. Thanks gals!!!!!
Up early on sunday, after 5 hours sleep, for rugby! We were all vaguely alive and no sign of hangovers but I think we were still drunk! Got ready and met ruth and glen at the station and got the train to leicester. Arrived at welford road around 12 and got a pie and a pint! Much needed(the pie, not so much the pint!). We sat in the cat stand which was a first for me. View is ok but I prefer standing, just closer to the action and there’s more banter over in the crumbie!
Tigers were comfortable winners against Treviso, 62-15 I think it ended. 9 tries and a hat-trick for Jordon Crane!! Good game but no tension or real drama. Had a quick beer after the game and then headed to nando’s! Brandy and Rachel came in and we had a little chat. Nice to see them again (first time I’d met rachel but u know what I mean!). Finished our chicken and got the train back to hinckley.
That’s about it really, jade text to apologise for all the crying and to say thanks for looking out for her, kiera surfaced and we had a little text chat, chilled on sunday eve in front of tv, got up early on monday for a cuppa with katie before she went to work and then started the trek home……
So glad to have the monday and tuesday off of work to catch up on sleep!!! Great weekend thou with lots of fun and laughs!
